As you may have read in other entries here, I try to make at least three contacts every day. Sometimes I make fewer than three, but over the past four years, I am actually averaging more than three QSOs per day.
This Thursday, I thought it was going to be tough to fit them in. I started watching a DVD with my wife, and by the time that was over it was already 9:15. Because I didn’t want to miss the TV show “ER” at 10 pm, I knew it was going to be tight. So, I rushed down to the shack and turned the rig on right away and set it for 40m.
My first QSO was with Jeff KA1GJ at 0119Z. We were having a nice chat, but it seems he had to sign quickly, so that first one lasted only ten minutes.
The second QSO was with Julio YY1RDX at 0132Z. From his QRZ page, he looked to be a big DXer/contester, so I didn’t expect the QSO to last very long. Sure enough, he signed right after the first exchange.
Now, I was feeling much better about my three QSOs. It was only 0133Z and I only had one more to make. The third QSO was with Viana PS8AKL, in Teresina, Piaui, Brasil. He was a bit more chatty than Julio, but this QSO was over by 0137Z.
So, not only did I get my three QSOs in, I worked some DX to boot!
