Yesterday, I got an e-mail from the ProBlogger mailing list noting that Darren Rowse, aka ProBlogger, would be conducting a Blab. “Blab?” I asked myself. What the heck is that?
Well, as it turns out, a Blab is kind of like a Google Hangout with a chat room. A blab can have up to four participants, or Blabbers, that can be talking to one another, live on-screen at the same time, and any number of viewers. The viewers can participate in the chat portion, which is visible to the blabbers and to the other viewers.
Here’s what a typical Blab screen looks like:
The blabs cover a wide range of topics. Right this very minute, for example, there are some pretty unstructured blabs, such as “How was your day? Let’s talk!” and more focused blabs, such as “Religion vs. Law: Kim Davis.”
I’ve dropped into several blabs. Some were good, some were not. I suppose like any kind of media, the blabs that were the most focused, seemed to be the most interesting and valuable. The ProBlogger blab was very interesting, and I learned a couple of things about blogging.
I think this might be a pretty cool thing for me to get into. We could do the KB6NU Blab on any number of topics. Heck, we could even take one of my blog posts here and blab about it. For example, we could do a blab on “What’s Wrong (and Right) With the ARRL?” Or, “Should I Spend Five Bucks on a Chinese Pixie?” I’m also thinking of restarting my Extra Elmer classes and using Blab instead of the local repeater and EchoLink.
So, let me know what you think? Would you participate in a KB6NU Blab? What kind of topics would you like to blab about?

Good Idea. I would be interested. Once a week? Saturdays? Time?

I’m thinking once every other week, to start, possibly on a weekday night.
