So, I was working a guy today, and he was making a lot of mistakes sending code. Then, you could tell he switched to bug. All of a sudden, he had that bug swing, but he made a lot fewer mistakes.
He told me that he switched keys because his hands were sweaty for some reason and his fingers were sticking to the paddle. He didn’t have that problem with the finger pieces of the bug.
I replied that sometimes in the summer, I have the same problem. What I do is keep a small bottle of baby powder handy. When my fingers start sticking to the paddle, I apply a little powder to my fingers and no more problems.
My QSO-mate said that he had thought of that, but that the baby powder was all the way across the house in a bathroom. That’s certainly not very handy. Instead, I advised him to get a small trial size bottle and keep it on his operating desk or in a drawer.
