That’s terrible soldering article. According to the article, one recommended method is:
“Touch the solder to the metal prong. Take the soldering iron in your dominant hand and quickly touch it to the metal prong and the solder. ”
This is a good way to have a cold joint. The iron should heat the part to be soldered, not the solder itself.
AFAIK, the correct sequence is:
1. Touch iron to part, heat it up
2. Touch solder to part, let it flow
3. Remove solder
4. Remove iron
Also, the pictures are terrible. Some don’t have proper fillet, and I see couple pads which aren’t wet.
