The ARRL has paid a commission to clubs collecting ARRL dues for quite a while now, but as I pointed out in 2014, the commission ($2 for membership renewals) was too low for it to really be of interest. Well, according to the May 24, 2022 issue of ARRL Club News, the powers that be have raised this commission to $5, effective June 1, 2022. Hopefully, this increase will make it more attractive for clubs to both recruit new members and retain existing ones.
Unfortunately, they seem to have not yet updated the ARRL website with this information. The item reads, “Additional information, as well as FAQs, can be found on the Affiliated Club Benefits web page.” I’ve been over that page several times, and for the life of me, I can’t find any information on the program.
Having said that, I would encourage all club officers to subscribe to this newsletter. The ARRL website does not make this easy, though. Down at the bottom of the newsletter is the boilerplate:
ARRL Club News is published every month (12 times each year). ARRL members may subscribe at no cost or unsubscribe by editing their Member Data Page as described at http://www.arrl.org/club-news.
I may be getting old, but I found no description of how to subscribe or unsubscribe on that page. Not only that, the link to do so in the membership profile is misnamed, I think. Instead of being labelled “subscriptions” or “email newsletters,” the link one has to click on is “Opt In/Out.” That’s not very intuitive, but now you know the secret.

You teaching convention electron flow, collage engineer theory, electron flow is taught in most trade schools wold wide.
The electron flow is most common theory. I only mention convention theory so my students as they could be working with someone that was taught convention theory.
I have a FCC Radio Telephone License, Extra Class Amateur and teach at local trade school.

Thanks Dan… yup…. hard to find. But glad I did.
$2 to $5 renewal was interesting but NEW membership OR lapsed membership (of 2 years or more) now get a $15 commission! Now that’s worth paying attention to. :-)
From the ARRL Club News Page… “$15 for each new membership or lapsed membership (of 2 years or more). For renewing members, clubs will now receive $5. There is no limit to the amount that a club can earn in this program.”

As far as subscribing to the ARRL Club Newsletter… that’s still a mystery to me. Here’s my experience today.
When I went to login to ARRL (it’s been awhile), I had to Register my ARRL Account again. Surprised me but not a problem. Did so and once logged in, my account details are current.
Like you, I could not find out how to subscribe to ARRL Club News anywhere. It may be in the restricted area for Club Officers. Using the link you shared… at the bottom of that Club News Page is a link saying “ARRL Club News is published every month (12 times each year). ARRL members may subscribe at no cost or unsubscribe by editing their Member Data Page as described at http://www.arrl.org/club-news
When i click that link… I’m returned to the same Club News page. Yup… it looped. Not good.
To find all your own ARRL Subscriptions, try this..:
After logging in, at the top of the ARRL Home page, click on your First Name (ie. Hello Lawrence) that takes you to your ARRL account page. Once there, you can see your magazine subscription (if you chose any) and on the left side a COMMUNICATIONS Title under which is the OptIn/Out link which showed me 3 choices: ARES E-Letter, ARRL Letter and W1AW General/Special. Unfortunately, no Club News option. I agree with you Dan… the word Subscriptions would be much clearer.
Still… with the link you shared AND the knowledge I can put “Club News” in the ARRL Search Engine, I can find ARRL Club Newsletters whenever I care to look.
User-friendly.? You be the judge. Thanks again..

Hey Dan…I’m with you. I looked around the ARRL website for at least 30 minutes and couldn’t find anything about the club commission process. My renewal is due soon and I would like to designate the commission for my club. I even went through the first couple pages of the online renewal and didn’t see anything.
I’ve handled a few of these over the years for our club. There was a paper form that was sent to ARRL with the renewal dues minus the commission. According to the article, ARRL is now responsible for all the processing with “the club receiving a commission payment directly from ARRL”. How long will this take? How will the payments be issued (check, direct deposit, $$$, rubles, crypto)?
I applaud the increased commissions for renewals, but for a process that is now live, there sure seems to be a lack of information.
