Whether you know it or not, your club website undoubtedly gets some hits from people who want to become hams. That being the case, shouldn’t your club website have information on how to get a license and become an active amateur radio operator? Here’s a good example that I ran across the other day:
I got permission to “plagiarize” this page and created a similar page on our club’s website.
Does your club website have a page like this? Add a link in the comment section below.

A great idea. It seems to me that all the training and testing still doesn’t prepare a new HAM to assemble and test their first rig. Then sit down to do their first QSOs and log it.

This is a great improvement to the Arrow website. Personally, I wandered around in the dark regarding purchasing equipment for months before taking the “one day wonder” class, and I know now that my knowledge and skill in radio communications was a bit antiquated, going back to my military active duty and years as a SWLer.
After studying about the license and taking the one day class/exam I was granted Technician privileges and then I began to get a real sense of what ham radio is really about. I spent this past summer getting to know protocols, equipment and procedures and I consider myself still just getting into the possibilities and the fun in amateur radio. I fumbled my way around but I found the Arrow website which introduced me to KB6NU’s study guides and the class which opened the door into ham radio for me.
Recently I passed the General license exam due to the great Elmering I’ve received from hams in several local organizations, and the exam study guide offered here on this blog. Thanks to all who helped encourage my learning and upgrade to the Amateur General license. I not only became a licensed operator, but upgraded that license in 11 months time with the support of this club and it’s membership, so you could say people like me, and those younger than I are the target audience of this addition to the website.

Um, you list the ARROW club repeater as 146.92? I thought it was 146.96. Does ARROW now own the 146.92 machine as well?

Oppps. Thanks for catching that. I don’t think that Mark, W8FSA, would have appreciated me calling his repeater the ARROW repeater. :)
