The other day I had two contacts in a row end somewhat abruptly when the operator I was talking to said, “Gotta go. Wife’s calling.” The third contact also ended abruptly when the operator said, “Must QRT. Wife has a ‘honey do’ project for me.” Now, for all I know, these guys might actually be telling the truth, but they still sound like lame excuses to me.
That got me to thinking that we should come up with some new Q signals for lame excuses like this. Here are some suggestions:
- QLW – Gotta go. Wife’s calling.
- QLD – Gotta go. Need to walk the dog.
- QLP – Gotta go. Just got a phone call.
- QLT – Gotta go. Thunderstorm rolling in.
- QLE – Gotta go. Having an earthquake.
- QLF – Gotta go. House is on fire. (This Q signal is not to be confuse with the other QLF, which means “sending with my left foot.”
I was going to suggest some more, but my wife’s calling. CYA!
