Getting e-mails like this make all the work on the Tech Study Guide worth it. (I’m certainly not getting rich off it. Since the printed version became available, I’ve only made $63 in royalties so far.)
hi dan… just wanted to let you know that thanks to your Technician study guide (and some dusty knowledge in the back of my mind) i just passed my new (after almost 6 years) Technician exam, and very nearly passed the General element as well (missed by 2 questions)…
originally licensed as a novice in ’69/’70 as i recall, then became a technician plus … when i got to california i kind of stopped using my radios and eventually let my license expire and moved the 10M and 2M rigs into the garage… last week a neighbor’s kid helping me to clean out 40 years worth of ‘stuff’ from my garage, found my Alinco DJF1T 2m HT… charged it up and it worked, so i figured i should probably get my license (yet again)… found your technician study guide and started to read through it, but yesterday i had to head up to san francisco for a biopsy… was out of it yesterday night and didn’t sleep well overnight, but got up this morning and confirmed that the sunnyvale VEC was on for 10:30… spent an hour reading your guide, took a shower, headed over and ba bing! as i missed the general by only 2 questions, i’m guessing if i had looked through your general guide i might have passed that as well, so i’m gonna start doing that now and hope to (finally!) get my general after all these years
a lot of words for a little accomplishment, but its a nice connection to my past, so i just wanted to say thanks again!
now i’ve got to get my nephew interested in the hobby… he’ll be out this way from NYC, this summer, so i’m thinking…
all the best! (73)
