From Pat Mullet, KC8RTW, MI Section PIC, via the ARRL PR mailing list: I’ve stumbled across a new venue for airing the ARRL audio PSAs.
Hello, all.
Some time back, I moved and found it difficult listen to my favorite AM talk-radio station, and since I didn’t have an opportunity to set up a receiving antenna, I resigned myself to the situation. Recently, the station returned to streaming it’s audio on the internet, having suspended the practice when the ruling was made that additional fees were to be paid to regional and national advertisers when their ads were streamed. Now, depending on the advertiser, the station either cuts the audio stream of fills the slot with PSAs. I’m currently in negotiations to have the station add our PSAs to the rotation. Though I’m not able to say with any certainty that this practice is widely observed, it does seem to be a reasonable assumption, and since stations loathe “dead-air,” this looks to be a situation tailor-made for us to get the word out.
