In this episode, I join Martin M1MRB, Martin Rothwell M0SGL, and Frank Howell K4FMH to discuss the following:
- New ARRL Chief Executive Officer Elected by Board of Directors
- FCC Publish New Part 95 Rules in Federal Register
- Zello Network linked to the Southern Ireland Repeater Network
- Austrians Object to Amateur Radio Being Classed as a “Toy”!
- Young Alabama Radio Hams Earn Awards
- National Frequency Coordinators Council Defunct
I learn something new every time I do one of these podcasts. On this episode, the item that was most interesting to me was the story on the National Frequency Coordinators Council. Apparently, this group is now defunct and there’s no one in charge of certifying repeater frequency coordinators.
We joke a lot about how dead repeaters are these days, but this does seem like a serious situation to me. I jokingly suggested that perhaps this should be the first thing that our new ARRL CEO tackles. I was only half joking, though.
The feature for this episode is on loudspeakers for ham radio. It starts at about the 1:07:30 mark if you don’t care to listen to the panelists babbling. Martin, M1MRB, gives some great advice about choosing and using external speakers with your rigs.
