The ARRL has posted several .mp3 files that you can use as ringtones for your cellular phone. They include “CQ” (soft and loud) and “QRZ” (soft and loud). The files are the contribution of Tom, AD1B, who just got his first cell phone recently.
A CW ringtone always seems to draw attention, and can indeed be a great conversation starter. I made one that sends my call as follows.
First I made a .wav file using cwpcm and sox. Then, I logged into my account at verizonwireless.com and sent myself the .wav file as an attachment to a text message. Finally, I saved it on my phone and assigned it as the ringtone.
I have one that I created from a website that had been hyped a couple of years back. I massaged the file a little since it was a little to soft in volume with Audicity. It just messages CQ CQ de K0AZV.
