The cost is $10 for adults. High school and college students can attend for free. If you’re a student, all you have to do to register is send an email to [email protected] stating that you want to take the class. All others can register using PayPal or Amazon Pay here.
When I get your registration, I will put you on a mailing list and send details about how to join the Zoom meeting before the class.
After you register, download my study guide. The PDF version is free, but you can purchase a Kindle version or a printed version, if you prefer. During the first class, we’ll cover the first two chapters in the study guide— Electrical Principles and Electronic Components and Circuit Diagrams—so you might want to review those chapters.
Testing IS NOT part of this class. To take the test, you’ll have to findn a local test session or register for an online test session by going to https://hamstudy.org/sessions. The cost ranges from free to $15, depending on the Volunteer Examiner group that’s administering the test.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Is this an online test? Will this count legally? I thought for a ham license you had to take it in person. Has this changed?
Dan KB6NU –
This is just a class, NOT the test. You’ll have to arrange to take the test separately. There are several VEs that are now administering tests remotely. For a list of available remote test sessions, go to https://hamstudy.org/sessions.

Dan: Thank you for doing this. I posted your announcement on my website in Blaine Washington on July 27. That same day, a guy found my contact info there and asked me about the class. So I gave him your info and I assumed the rest would be history. Well, he just emailed me last Friday to say that he had just passed his Tech and General exams. So, for whatever part you played, thank you. 73.
Dan KB6NU –
Very cool! Thanks for passing along that story.
Jonathan Vielmetti – KE8PFB –
Recently passed my test thanks to this class!
Dan KB6NU –
Congratulations, Jonathan!

DST ends tonight. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back, change your smoke detector batteries and update your tech class times to EST.
