I found this on the Southgate amateur radio new service and thought it might be worthwhile to post here. I”m not sure if this is the right thing for the ARRL to do, but they really should do something to increase membership. Note that nearly 63% for Swiss radio amateurs are USKA members while only 21% of U.S. hams are ARRL members…Dan
To address declining membership Switzerland’s national amateur radio society USKA is paying a bonus to those who sign up new members. A translation of the USKA announcement says:
USKA sections, collective and individual members receive a bonus when they sign up new USKA members. The premiums are:
- 50% of the new member’s current annual fee when registering
- CHF 20 for each young member
The prerequisite is that the new member is accepted by the USKA. The re-entry of a previous USKA member is not considered a new entry.
At the end of 2018 Switzerland had 4,877 Amateur Radio licenses, comprising 4,414 HAREC (HB9) and 463 Novice (HB3). The USKA had 3,070 members

The ARRL does have a rebate program for Clubs to get a portion of the dues sent in for new members as well as re-newals. But no payments to individuals.

Clubs – well, you got to get folks to come to club meetings in the first place to take advantage of that program. A lot of clubs have no program, instead it’s just a bull session. After a few of those, folks tend to wander elsewhere.
