I don’t work many stations from Wisconsin. They’re usually too close for 40m, and I’m guessing that the radiation pattern of the random wire I use on 80m doesn’t favor Wisconsin. Even so, I like working state QSO parties, so I’m going to participate in the Wisconsin QSO Party.
The WIQP runs from 1800Z March 15, 2009 to 0100Z, March 16. That’s 1:00 PM CDT to 8:00 PM CDT on Sunday, March 15.
The Michigan QSO Party takes place on Saturday, April 18, 1200 EDT to 2400 EDT (1600Z Saturday to 0400Z Sunday). In years past, my club, ARROW, has set up and run a multi-op station. These were only marginally successful.
This year, we are going to try to get as many of our members as we can to operate from home and participate in the club competition. Basically, the way this works, is that when club members submit a log, they can designate that the results also contribute to the ARROW club score. Prizes are awarded not only to individuals, but also to clubs.
This year, we’ll be operating two club stations—our station at the Hands-On Museum—as well as the station at the Washtenaw Red Cross—so that should add to our score. We’re also thinking of having some kind of internal awards for club members who participate.
If you’re in Michigan and haven’t worked the MI QP, there’s s PDF file, MiQP for First-Timers on the MI QP website. See you on the air!
