In a report on a BPL standards meeting in Europe on RFDesignLine.Com, reporter John Walko, said:
Sending data transmissions over electrical wiring has been promoted as “the next big thing” for decades and advocates say it will provide competition for cable and telecom companies. But it has been slow to catch on, partly due to opposition from ham radio operators, who claim BPL interferes with its transmissions.
I replied by email, and they published my response. I pointed out that the ARRL has time and again proven that BPL causes interference to licensed radio services, and pointed them towards the ARRL web pages that document the interference. I think that it’s important for those of us who are engineers and have access to trade magazines such as RFDesignLine to keep up with what these publications are saying and comment where appropriate.
