I know this is kind of a long shot, perhaps someone has a QSL card or some info about the original W9ACW. If you do, please contact me, and I’ll forward your message to Scott…Dan
I received this email yesterday:
This is W9ACW. My callsign was my grandfathers, he lived in Brazil, Indiana and I know he was heavily into HF and I remember a large file of ‘contact cards’ that were mailed to him from all over the world. Unfortunately, they were discarded when I was a child. He passed away in 1980.
I’m curious if you might be able to recommend any way of researching amateurs that are still operating that might have had record of contact with him all those years ago? Internet research does turn up various articles about him in newspaper archives but I don’t find any contact histories that go back much farther than the birth of the Internet.
I’m currently studying for my General Class test and learning morse code, and hope to be on the air doing some CW work as W9ACW which was last heard on the air in 1980. I appreciate the guide, it’s tremendously helpful.
