Jeff, KE9V, has come out with a new t-shirt. I’m not sure exactly why he sent me one—I don’t really agree with the sentiment—but it’s pretty amusing. Also, as you can see, I’m not exactly anyone’s idea of a clothes model. As most of my friends(?) will tell you, I have a face for radio.
He didn’t’ tell me how you can get one, or how much they cost, but I’m guessing if you head over to his website, ke9v.net, you’ll find them.

I don’t agree with the sentiment either Dan. What happened to rag chewing
and getting to know fellow Hams? Now all they want to do is pile up QSO’s
for contests or country counts. I’m still a Rag chewer and proud of it.
We need more, especially on the CW bands. 73

Rag chewing and chasing QSOs with FT8 are not mutually exclusive. I do both.

Amen, Chuck.

FT8 is all well and good for some, but I find it cold and impersonal. I like PSK since it is conversation between two stations. It does help avoid the eager beaver DX’er who spoils a QSO with his or her sole desire to make points in some contest.
I have been slowly losing interest in voice contacts mainly due to severe and uncorrectable hearing loss I have been experiencing the last several years.
It is now time to renew my old acquaintance CW, which I shamefully abandoned on the late 1970’s after passing my General Class license exam.
Between PSK and CW, the hobby could revive my interests.
True Blue DX sounds like an interesting group.

I watched a friend make Q’s with FT8 and the only thought that came to mind was that it wasn’t as exciting as watching a pinball machine. Sorry, to me it might be advanced technology, but not real radio. I want to work to get contacts not click and wait.

:) I like to chase the DX, not jibber jabber.
Awesome mode, the FT8. I prefer SSB for a DX Contact,
but I will use FT8 when I have the chance too. :)

My own T-shirt design would say: FT8 – amateur Radio without Amateur Radio

OK I’ve got to say it: I kinda like the jibber-jabber.
Since FT8 has taken over, the PSK-31 sub-bands are a lot quieter, but people still there are a lot more inclined to ragchew. I think it’s working out for everyone no matter which side of this fence they may be.
