Results for the 2005 Michigan QSO Party have just been posted.
I somehow managed to goof up the ARROW entry to the MI QP, getting us classified in the multi-op, single transmitter category instead of the multi-op, multi-transmitter category. And you’d think that would have gotten us higher placement. Instead, we placed fourth in the single transmitter category, while that same score would have made us third in the multi-transmitter category.
Even so, I’m a bit surprised how well we did. While we weren’t anywhere near the winners (K8XXX scored over 430,000 points, while our total was just over 43,000), we managed to outscore the SE MI DX Assn., USECA, and the U-M club.
In a way, these results sort of mirror our FD results. We’re nowhere near the Tier 1 groups (to use an automotive analogy), but we’re solidly among the top Tier 2 groups.
This contesting stuff could get addicting. I now wish I had a bigger lot, or at least one more amenable to antennas, so that I could erect some antennas that would make us more competitive.
