Back in the 70s and 80s, and in the early days of personal computing, Wayne Green was kind of a legend. He was the editor of CQ magazine for a couple of years, then started 73 magazine. In 1975, he started BYTE magazine. But, as the saying goes, “you learn something new every day.” Here’s what I just learned about Wayne Green.

This, in and of itself, is kind of cool, if a bit hard to use. Personally, I think it’s easier just to go to archive.org to view back issues. Anyway, I replied:
One thing that you may not know was that was involved in ham radio magazines, including CQ and 73 before he started BYTE. He was very entrepreneurial. He was always encouraging hams to use their electronics skills outside the world of amateur radio. I remember one editorial in which he thought that hams would be perfect for setting up and running home security businesses for one thing. He was kind of kooky, especially in his later years, but he certainly was a character.
