Just Learn Morse Code

October 8, 2005 By Dan KB6NU 3 Comments

Sigurd, LB3KB writes:

I decided to make a contribution to the continued use of Morse code, and have created a computer program that makes it easy to learn the code. The program can be downloaded from http://justlearnmorsecode.com

The website describes the program thusly:

Just Learn Morse Code is designed to make it easy to learn morse code, as well as improve the skills of those who already know the code. The basic methods used to achieve this are The Koch method and Farnsworth timing.

Features:

  • Accurate morse code timing
  • Thorough evaluation of code copied
  • Customizable character set
  • International characters
  • Prosigns
  • Selectable speed, pitch and volume
  • Optional Farnsworth timing
  • Creating morse code audio files
  • and more

Just Learn Morse Code is free for personal, non-commercial hobby use, although you are encouraged to contribute when you find the program helpful.

System requirements include Windows XP, DirectX 9, and a sound card.

Thank you for blogging about this.

The system requirements aren’t absolute. It’s more like a description of the system it has been tested on, and it may very well work on other systems, e.g. other versions of Windows or DirectX. I just didn’t want to spend the time to try that myself, as I figure most people use XP anyway.
