I’m hoping that a new hand on the helm of ARRL will make some most-needed changes and put the “fat cat” organization on a diet. Changes won’t come overnight but we must give him an opportunity to create a better management model. Beginners need information that just doesn’t get published in QST, so the publication is over their head and unappealing. What are they getting for $49? One of the monthly issues was really late arriving in my mail box a few months ago. After experiencing that problem with another ham publication, I became concerned and sent the League circulation people an email inquiry with five days remaining in the month. Someone responded with a very curt note that simply said, “We have til the end of the month to get it to you.”
No “thank you for your inquiry.” No, signature. Just that very brief message. Gosh, the warmth made me feel they really cared about me as a dues paying member. Not!
