FCC Bans Custom Firmware (for routers)
I call BS. The FCC did NOT tell router manufacturers that they had to prevent flashing of 3rd party software, only that they needed to prevent easily modifying the RF parameters (frequency, power, etc).
So rather than change their hardware to make it difficult to tinker with the RF parameters, TP-link chose instead to blame the FCC “new regs” making them lock down their router.
Again, I say BS.

That’s basically the conclusion that we came to. TP-Link didn’t want to be bothered to actually read the rule. It’s their loss, as far as I can see.
